Travel description
On this educational and cultural trip through Turkey, participants immerse themselves in the country's rich history and culture. The journey begins in the ancient city of Smyrna, now Izmir, where guests can admire the well-preserved Roman Agora and the magnificent Arcadius magnes. We continue to Pergamon, where the impressive Pergamon Altar and the Acropolis can be visited.
The journey then continues to Pamukkale, famous for its natural limestone terraces and the ancient Hierapolis. Here participants have the opportunity to bathe in the healing thermal springs and explore the fascinating history of the ancient city. Continue to Aphrodisias, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its well-preserved theater, stadium and the impressive Aphrodite Temple.
The journey then leads to Miletus, one of the most important ancient cities in Anatolia. Here participants can view the well-preserved ruins and the famous theater. Finally, we continue to Didyma to marvel at the impressive Temple of Apollo. The journey ends in Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world. Here participants can admire the impressive Great Theater, the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Artemis.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL in IZMIR / SMYRNA
We start our journey by arriving at Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir. Our dedicated tour guide accompanies us throughout the entire tour. In Smyrna we explore the Agora and the Polycarp Church, a place of historical importance as Polycarp worked here as an apostolic church father.
On the day of arrival we drive via Smyrna to Pergamon (140 km). We spend the night in the cozy Berksoy Hotel***, where a delicious dinner awaits us.
DAY 2: PERGAMON - UNESCO World Heritage Site
After breakfast we explore Bergama, the former Pergamon, with the cable car to the castle hill (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Alternatively, we offer an active extra tour where we can hike down the castle hill. We visit the Acropolis, the Hellenistic Theater, the Zeus Altar and more.
We continue to Manisa, where you stay at Hotel Lidya*** and enjoy local delicacies over dinner.
DAY 3: SARDIS – PHILADELPHIA – PAMUKKALE
We visit Sardis, the ancient capital of the Lydian Empire, and continue the journey to Philadelphia, “the city of brotherly love”. We then reach Pamukkale, spend the night at the Pam Thermal Hotel***** and experience the unique natural wonder of the sinter terraces.
DAY 4: Pamukkale – LAODICEA – HIERAPOLIS
After breakfast we explore Laodicea and the ruins of Hierapolis, with a church on the site where Saint Philip was stoned. Return to the hotel in Pamukkale for another overnight stay.
DAY 5: APHRODISIAS – KUSADASI
Let's enjoy our free time in the morning, for example in the hotel's own SPA, before heading to Aphrodisias, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and ancient center of sculpture. The journey continues to Kusadasi, where we spend the night in the Grand Belish Hotel***** right on the beach.
DAY 6: MILET – DIDYMA
The journey leads through the fertile meander plain to Miletus, where we visit the large theater and the thermal baths. We then visit Didyma with the monumental Temple of Apollo. Overnight stay at the Grand Belish Hotel*****.
DAY 7: EPHESUS
After breakfast we drive to Ephesus, an important archaeological site of the Greco-Roman era. We experience the impressive marble streets, the Celsus Library and much more. Overnight stay at the Grand Belish Hotel*****.
DAY 8: RETURN FLIGHT
Transfer to Izmir airport for the return flight after an eventful stay full of cultural discoveries.

The travel conditions of the tour operator IBE Travel / Munich apply. The travel contract is concluded after the applicant has received the written order confirmation/invoice from the tour operator. A deposit of 50% of the travel price must be paid after booking, the remaining payment 30 days before departure.
We ask for your understanding that we reserve the right to pass on unforeseen and subsequently arising or increasing costs, in particular resulting from increases in exchange rates, fuel costs, taxes or fees. Discounts are also taken into account accordingly.
For German and Austrian citizens, a passport is required to enter Turkey. Citizens of other nations should inquire at the relevant consulate. The trip cannot be started without valid identification documents.
